Every Thursday night at 9:30 p.m in the VIP Nightclub in Riverside, local Inland Empire drag queen Nebuer Styles hosts The Hot Mess Express, an open stage drag show where entertainers are given the opportunity to go on stage and perform to an audience.
Once a month the performers are given a theme to incorporate into their performances and with this show taking place on the hostess Nebuer Styles’ birthday the theme was “Night of 1000 Nebs!” where each entertainer recreated and performed various older performances done by Nebuer Styles throughout her fourteen years performing drag.
“Nobody wanted to sign up, I had three people - Lana, Theory, and Miz Tonz. That was it.” Styles said. “I had five entertainers back out, so I posted that the spots are open for anyone that wants to perform and they were filled within fifteen minutes. I am very grateful and honored that these entertainers chose to come here on this Thursday night to celebrate with me.”
This show’s lineup of entertainers consisted of Miz Tonz, Quetzal, Dorian Fox, Envy, Lana Layover, Frida Diablo, Vendetta, Ivy Profen, and Theory.
Frida Diablo, a drag queen that performed in the Hot Mess Express, based her appearance of the night off of a recent Halloween performance done by Nebuer Styles where she was dressed as a mummy. “Nebs posted on her Instagram story asking if anyone could do tonight's show because there were some cancellations and I really wanted to perform tonight because I really love her looks.” Said Frida. “So I made this look last minute. I got a bunch of gauze from Target and wrapped it everywhere, hand stitched the side of my dress, and styled my wig. A big reason why I’ve been able to do this is because of my mom. She’s the one that taught me how to style wigs, how to sew, and how to do everything that I do!”
