In September, The Crane Wives released their new highly anticipated album “Beyond Beyond Beyond” and ever since then everybody has been craving to witness the Crane Wives live in person! Last year they sold out two back to back shows at the Constellation Room, so this time around they had the main room to work with!

The crowd eagerly waited for the openers to begin while they sang and danced along to hits in anticipation. Suddenly Dan Rickabus, the drummer of The Crane Wives came up on stage and thanked everyone for showing up and introduced Rett Madison and her bass player Genna Projansky!

Rett and Genna performed on stage with the crowd cheering in support of them the whole way through. Part way through their set, Rett Madison thanked everybody for their support and went into detail about the meaning behind some of the songs she performed and the crowd showed so much support.

It was finally time for The Crane Wives to perform and the audience erupted with cheer until one by one the band members came on stage and started their set off with a bang playing one of their new songs off their last album, “Scars”! I was personally looking out for them to perform their newer song “Black Hole Fantasy” and I was delighted to hear it half way through their set.

Towards the end of their set they started taking it slow and Emilee Petersmark, one of the guitarists and singers, asked who in the crowd was at one of their last years’ Santa Ana show with a majority of the crowd raising their hands and she asked “If we come back to Santa Ana next year will you guys also come back?” with the entire crowd unanimously agreeing to be back next year with Emilee dubbing it a date!

They announced their final song of the night only for complete silence to take over the stage until a familiar wind chime sound played letting everyone know exactly what song was about to be played. It was one of their biggest hits ever being “Tongues & Teeth” and the crowd went absolutely feral, I’m pretty sure I heard some people howling! And with that the night was over, or so everybody thought until the crowd chanted for more songs to be played in which they all came back up on stage to end the night with two more of their songs being “Down the River” and “Curses”
