On Sunday, May 11, The Menagerie in downtown Riverside threw one of its fiercest monthly Drag Brunches yet—this time themed “The Mother of All Brunches” in honor of Mother’s Day. Held on the second Sunday of each month with rotating themes, this edition was a joyous celebration of queer artistry, maternal love, and high-octane drag hosted by the incomparable Rusty Waters.

Waters, a local legend known for her quick wit and warm stage presence, not only kept the show running tight and shady—but tenderly brought all the moms in attendance to the center of the room for a round of celebratory shots. Glasses were raised, toasts were made, and the house echoed with cheers as drag and blood families alike came together to celebrate the queens in everyone’s lives.

Eddie D-Lite turned it out with two pitch-perfect impersonations that had the crowd gagged. First up was a Madonna fantasy, full of ‘80s pop energy and razor-sharp choreography. But it was her Cher number that snatched wigs and sent the audience into a full clap-along frenzy. Equal parts camp and charisma, Eddie knows how to command a room with old-school diva realness and a wink to the crowd. She’s a queen who doesn't just lip-sync—she performs.

A vision in high fashion and fierce theatrics, Veronica Halsten slayed with her now-iconic Lady Gaga impersonation, complete with a performance of “Abracadabra” that blended high drama, and powerful energy. Veronica isn’t just doing Gaga—she’s becoming her, and the crowd devoured every second of it. A former winner of Hamburger Mary’s All Stars and known across SoCal as a Lip Sync Assassin, Veronica proved once again that she’s drag royalty.

Anya Body delivered charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent with her signature blend of beauty and comedy. A Latinx powerhouse based in SoCal, Anya knows how to hold a mic, work a room, and turn a look—sometimes all at once. Whether bedazzling a lewk or roasting the front row, Anya keeps it equal parts stunning and side-splitting.

The “Mother of All Brunches” proved once again that The Menagerie isn’t just a nightclub—it’s a cornerstone of Riverside’s queer culture. With a loving crowd, fabulous food and drink, and performers who give everything (and then some), this Drag Brunch was a warm and wild way to honor moms of all kinds.
