On May 20th, 19-year-old underground rap prodigy Nettspend brought his Early Life Crisis Tour to the House of Blues Anaheim for a completely sold-out night that proved just how far he has come. As one of the leading faces of the current underground scene, Nettspend has built a fanbase that has rapidly pushed him from internet phenomenon to gaining mainstream attention. Coming fresh off a performance at Rolling Loud earlier this month, the momentum behind him was impossible to ignore. The tour comes alongside the release of his debut studio album Early Life Crisis, and the Anaheim stop felt like a full celebration of the record and the scene surrounding it.

Hours before doors opened, the line to enter the venue stretched all the way around the upper level of the Garden Walk. Fans packed every inch of the area, waiting for over four hours just to secure a barricade spot. The excitement was obvious as fans were already getting pushed against the barricade before the show had even started. With a delayed start time testing the crowd’s patience, the fans decided to take matters into their own hands, opening up mosh pits to the Nirvana songs playing through the venue speakers in the background while everybody waited for Nettspend to hit the stage.

When the lights finally dropped, the words “Early Life Crisis” flashed across the massive screen behind the stage and the crowd exploded instantly. With no opener or DJ set, the show got straight to the point as Nettspend stormed onto the stage with “you ready?”, one of the hottest songs off the new album and the perfect way to kick off the night.

Halfway through the first song, Nettspend suddenly stopped the music after noticing the crowd getting too intense near the front barricade. He paused the set to check on fans, asking security to help get water to people who needed it before continuing. The crowd showed a ton of love for the moment, cheering even louder once the music started back up.

From there, the energy never slowed down. Song after song, the crowd continued moshing, screaming lyrics, and throwing themselves fully into the performance. The stage production added even more to the experience, featuring a raised platform with scaffolding that Nettspend climbed throughout the set, towering above the audience. One of the coolest parts of the production was the giant screen behind him, which constantly switched between custom visuals and a live video feed from a cameraman following Nettspend around the stage.

The setlist heavily focused on Early Life Crisis, with Nett performing almost every track from the album while also throwing in older fan favorites and several songs from his surprise SoundCloud-exclusive project Him, which he quietly released earlier this month through an alternate account.

Partway through the set, Nettspend performed “Pain Talk,” his song with fellow underground rapper and close friend OsamaSon. After the song ended, Nettspend and the entire venue took a moment to sing “Happy Birthday” to OsamaSon as the concert landed on his birthday. It was one of the clearest examples of how connected the underground scene really is and how much support the artists and fans have for each other.

One of the most unforgettable moments happened toward the end of the night. During a brief pause between songs, some people near the back started stepping away to grab water or take a break after nonstop moshing. Then the instantly recognizable instrumental for “nothing like uuu” started playing. The second fans realized what song was coming on, everybody who had started leaving turned right back around and sprinted into the crowd, screaming every lyric word for word as the entire venue erupted again.

Even after the set ended, the crowd refused to let the night be over, chanting for an encore until Nettspend returned to the stage. He rewarded the fans with “medicine taste like shit” from Him, “stressed” from his EP gone too soon, and finally the live debut of “10k ona dog,” which sent the room into complete chaos one last time. After thanking the crowd, Nettspend walked off stage as his song “Bliss” and its music video played across the screen while fans slowly filtered out of the venue.

The House of Blues Anaheim crowd showed exactly why Nettspend has become one of the biggest names in the underground right now. From the packed lines outside the venue to the nonstop energy inside, it was clear that he is no longer just an internet favorite. Nettspend has made his way into the mainstream while still keeping the raw chaos and community that built his career.
