Just in time for the holiday season, the Riverside Community Players presents their production of Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol, adapted and directed by Kathryn Gage starting on December 6th!
The production stays true to the original story, but with its own differences, such as starting off with Charles Dickens played by Wayne Astin, hosting a party with several of his real life friends where he reveals his new story to his guests and he starts telling it, being A Christmas Carol. With him staying on stage as the narrator the entire time, which made for very strong storytelling.
The entire cast was phenomenal in all of their parts, with a majority of them playing multiple roles, even portraying up to four characters. Mel Chadwick stands out as Ebenezer Scrooge, showing a wide range of emotions and sincerity with his character.
Overall the production is very nicely put together and invokes strong emotional reactions due to the passion put in from the talented actors and talented cast, mixed with the classic plot points of A Christmas Carol. Riverside Community Players is local near Downtown Riverside and their next performance of this production will be tonight, December 7th at 7 PM, and there will be more performances on the 13th and 14th at 7 PM and the 8th, 14th, and 15th at 2 PM.
