The holiday season took a whimsical turn at Packinghouse Brewing Co. on the evening of Dec 12 as Dungeon Master Sam brought festive cheer to the brewery with a Christmas-themed Dungeons & Dragons one-shot. Gamers and beer enthusiasts alike gathered around tables, character sheets in hand, ready to dive into a story brimming with yuletide adventure, camaraderie, and just the right amount of peril.

The campaign transported players into the roles of spirited "Holiday Elves" on a critical mission to save Santa Claus. The journey to the North Pole was no stroll through a winter wonderland—it was a frosty battlefield where they faced enchanted foes, navigated treacherous snowdrifts, and unraveled the dark schemes of a menacing giant who had kidnapped Santa and corrupted his magical reindeer into fearsome beasts.

One of the highlights of the evening was the treasure hunt for holiday presents scattered across the landscape. Each box presented a gamble: would it reveal a magical boon to aid their quest, or was it a mimic in disguise, lying in wait to snatch their hard-earned loot? The shrieks of delight and dismay as gifts turned into treasure or trickery kept the room alive with energy and laughter.

Fueling the adventurers was Dani the Cook, whose sizzling burgers, patty melts, and perfectly seasoned fries were as much a star of the night as the dice rolls. The delicious food paired beautifully with Packinghouse’s craft beers, including their fan-favorite Colder Streams IPA, making every bite and sip a celebration. “It was an incredible way to celebrate the holidays with my friends,” said Kyle Anesko, sipping a pint of Colder Streams IPA. “I loved how DM Sam tied Christmas themes into the game—it was hilarious and challenging!” From sleigh bell sound effects to the final boss battle against the villainous giant in Santa’s workshop, the evening was a perfect blend of creativity and community spirit. By the end of the night, the Holiday Elves emerged victorious, freeing Santa, restoring the reindeer to their magical forms, and saving Christmas for everyone.
