The Riverside community turned out to support and celebrate the Black community with the 44th Annual Black History Month Parade and Expo that took place on Main Street in Downtown Riverside on Feb 10, 2024.
Members of Omega Psi Phi, a historically Black fraternity founded in 1911 at Howard University, leap into their performance along the parade route for The 44th Annual Black History Expo, “It Takes a Village.” The Parade was part of a day long celebration of the Black community with a parade and over 40 different vendors offering food, artifacts, clothing, books, information booths, recruitments and an event stage showcasing local entertainment on Feb 10, 2024.

The Parade, which started on Tenth Street and then wrapped the corner onto Main Street in front of the Riverside City Hall, was a celebration of Black excellence and culture, and featured performances from Omega Psi Phi, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc, XSPLOSIVE Drill Team & Drum Squad, Riverside Electric Light Parade, and many others.
Also included in the parade were several classic and low-rider car clubs that drove their tricked out cars and even bounced them down the parade route, with a smoke machine adding to the effect.

Groups such as Feed Dem Kids were on hand to raise awareness and distribute toys to the crowd of parade attendees, and other groups like Sigma Beta Xi who work with Fathers and Men Empowering Men were also on hand to raise awareness.

The Expo, which stretched from City Hall throughout the Promenade showcased 40 different food, arts & craft, and informational booths that helped celebrate Black History Month.
