The venue was sold out and the crowd was ecstatic as they waited for the show to begin. It was the second night of Ricky Montgomery’s One Rick to Rule Them All Tour with the show being held at the House of Blues in Anaheim with support from the duo Ray Bull!
The night started off with Tucker Elkins Aaron Graham, the duo that make up Ray Bull walking out on stage to begin their set. They greeted the crowd and got them excited for Ricky Montgomery’s upcoming set and they proceeded to begin playing their music and had their fans singing along to their songs, especially “Name Something Better” which had the front row against the barricade singing along to it!
It was time for Ricky Montgomery to come on stage and all of a sudden the lights started rapidly flickering on and off until a familiar silhouette came out from behind the backdrop on stage and it was Ricky himself. Everything fell silent until he sang the words “I don’t really care about the way you touch me when we’re along” and began singing his viral hit “Line Without a Hook” to kick off the night.
No matter what song Ricky played, whether it was an older song or if it was just released on his most recent album “Rick(y)”, the crowd was singing along to every single lyric from every single song he played! The only song that the crowd did not sing along to was an unreleased song called “Ed Sheeran (Superfan)”.
Throughout his set, Ricky Montgomery was constantly interacting with his fans in the crowd, even hopping down into the media pit to interact with his fans that were right up against the railing.
As the set was coming to a close, Ricky went on stage to thank Ray Bull and all of his fans as his final song was ending. He grabbed a couple of signed setlists with his signature and folded them up into paper airplanes to throw out into the crowd, giving some lucky fans something special to remember the night.
