Our Ladies of Sorrow is a unique production that shines a light on the tragic heroines and their traumatic demises throughout various classic Shakespeare productions such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, and Titus Andronicus as they come together in purgatory and reflect on their tragic demises together.

Every character arrives freshly affected by the events that occur within their respective stories. They each get their own spotlight to give a monologue and speak out about their experiences in their stories, which is something these characters were never given the chance to do in their original stories with deep and emotional dialogue.

The entire cast gave outstanding performances, notably Leah Young as Lavinia. She conveyed Lavinia’s emotional state throughout the show without the use of words for the majority due to what happened to Lavinia in Titus Andronicus.

The script is well written and the production is well directed, but it will be a bit confusing if you are not familiar with the original Shakespeare tragedies where these characters originate from. On May 10th the Full Circle Players will also be running the shows My Brother’s Keeper at 6:30 pm and The Sudden Urge to Jump at 7:30 pm and on May 11th, Our Ladies of Sorrow at 6:30 pm along with Tucked Away at 7:30 pm at The Box Riverside.
