The Pettybreakers, "The World's Greatest Tribute to Tom Petty," performed at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside, Ca on Jan 20, 2024 to a crowd a enthusiastic fans eager to hear all their favorite Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker hits.
The Pettybreakers include Ozzie Mancinelli, as guitarist and lead vocalist, John McAllister, on lead guitar, David Zeman, handling keyboards, vocals, acoustic guitar, and harmonica, Danny Leoni, on bass and vocals, and Rafael Gayol, playing drums and vocals.
Front man Mancinelli brings definite Tom Petty vibes to the stage and performance, and the overall experience is very mid 90's Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert, as I felt transported back to 1995 when my 22 year-old self was rocking out to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers live at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Mn.
While the theatre wasn't packed, the large crowd in attendance provided an excited energy which the band played off nicely, and everyone had a great time dancing and singing along to to their favorites.
The band also had a great energy with each other, forming up and jamming together and just having a blast playing which made for a fun show.
The Pettybreakers, who formed in 2010, started off as a small regional tribute band, but have now played in venues all over the US, and have enjoyed residencies in Las Vegas, and the honor of being selected in 2014 as "The World's Greatest Tribute to Tom Petty" by the AXS-TV. These days, the Pettybreakers continue to tour extensively, and if you missed this show, you can catch them on January 26th at The Coach House Concert Hall in San Juan Capistrano, Ca.
The Riveriside Fox Performing Arts Centers, previously known as the Riverside Fox Theater, opened it doors in 1929 as a cinema and vaudeville theater house in Riverside. In 1928, it was sold to William Fox, who despite losing his control of his eponymous movie empire, left a legacy of Fox Theatres throughout the US. The theater was closed in the late 90's and remained so until it was purchased by the city and completely renovated and restored. Now it serves the Riverside community as a venue serving up live music, Broadway shows, and comedy shows.
