Red Hot Cholo Peppers, a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band, served up a night of Chili Peppers tunes with a twist on April 20 at the Concert Lounge in Mission Grove Riverside Ca. The Concert Lounge is known for bringing some of the best tribute bands around the area into their venue and the Cholo Peppers certainly didn't disappoint for their "Four Twenty in Reeferside" show.
We've mentioned before the various kinds of tribute bands we generally see, ranging from must look exactly like the band all the way to cover bands with zero connection to the band but just playing the songs. Red Hot Cholo Peppers create their own category of tribute band, bringing all of the energy of the Chili Peppers to the stage leaving you feeling like you're having that experience, but with a Cholo twist... and a rubber chicken.
The Red Hot Cholo Peppers are definitely not your average tribute band, clad in Cholo culture attire, these guys know how to turn the night into a party with heavy crowd interaction and enthusiastic fans who sing along, dance, and really get into the vibe being created. Fans were even buying drinks for the band throughout the set, leading the the guitarist Big Al to quip to the crowd, "Every thing after this is your fault."
The Red Hot Cholo Peppers are Papi Cholo on vocals, Big Al on guitar, Fonzo Fresh on bass, and Cholo Joe on drums, and while you're not going to mistake any of them for members of the Chili Peppers proper, the music and the energy will have you dancing and singing along to all your favorite Chili Peppers' songs and having the best time!
When the Cholo Peppers aren't touring they are available for your house party, and as they put it "Scare away the neighbors with some loud fowl language! Or I guess you could invite them over for a Modelo. That's chill." Check them out online at their website, Instagram, and Facebook.
