Queensrÿche took the stage at the House of Blues in Anaheim on March 27 and gave eager fans the progressive metal show they had been waiting for. Joined by Armored Saint, who played the opening set, the crowd was in for a night of incredible progressive metal rock and they were not dissapointed.

Currently Queensrÿche is made up of Todd La Torre on vocals, Michael Wilton on guitar, Eddie Jackson on bass, Casey Grillo on drums and Mike Stone on guitar. Long time fans of Queensrÿche remember the original crew and the fall out from their break up, but this incarnation of the band brings all the amazing talent that we fell in love with Queensrÿche for in the first place.

Todd La Torre is just incredible as the front man and vocalist for the band and came out strong with the opening song Queen of the Ryche, which is frankly a staple for the band. The energy was high, and it was obvious that La Torre came to preform and did just that.

You are hard pressed to find a pair of guitarist that mesh as well as Mike Stone and Michael Wilton, and they showcased that chemistry all throughout the night, whether on opposite sides of the stage or playing on the same platform together, and Wilton, AKA "The Whip", showed why he's earned that nickname with his fingers flying across his guitar through some their speedier songs.

Eddie Jackson, playing bass, laid the foundation for every track with the deep bass rifts and backing vocals, and while he didn't come out to the front of the stage much throughout the performance, his presence was felt throughout the show.

Being a fan of Queensrÿche from the early days and having seen them preform several times, I will admit to being a little hesitant for this new incarnation of the band, especially La Torre, since I hadn't seen him perform at all, but within the first minute of the opening song, those hesitations were gone, and I was in awe of this version of Queensrÿche. They have all the energy of young up and coming band with the presence and perfected sound of experienced masters of their craft.

Queensrÿche's set for the night included their first EP and debut album The Warning in its entirety. "The Origin Tour" continues through the month of May with stops all over the US, and it's definitely a show worth catching in your area.
