Country rock band Blackberry Smoke brought their Southern sounds to the Fox for their "Be Right There" tour, with support from Kelsey Walden, which went all over the world, with stops throughout Europe and America, delighting fans at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside, Ca on Nov 2.
Supporting Blackberry Smoke for their Riverside stop was Kasey Walden, who hails from Monkey's Eyebrow, KY, yep, that's a real place, and brought her dulcet tones and melodic guitar strumming to the stage to get the crowd ready for the headliners. Walden recently released a new album, "There's Always a Song", and introduced the crowd to a few of the tracks from that album while also delighting them with some fan favorites.
The night really started moving when Blackberry Smoke took the stage and brought their signature style of Southern Rock to the stage, starting off their set with "Six Ways to Sunday", and the crowd immediately jumped to their feet and started dancing.
Charlie Starr, vocals and guitar, and front man of the band which started in 2000 in Georgia, is clearly a seasoned performer and really knew how to connect with the crowd and keep them reeled in and waiting for each new song. Often, understandably, compared with such Southern Rock icons as Lynyrd Skynyrd, whom they have opened for them in the past, they have spent the last 17 years touring almost non-stop, and will be kicking off a new 2025 tour, Rattle, Ramble and Roll, hitting venues all over the US starting the end of January.
With decades of albums to choose from, the set list consisted of fan favorites from across their discography, including "Hey Delilah", "Pretty Little Lie", and "Sleeping Dogs", as well as tracks from their latest album "Be Right Here", like "Azalea", "Hammer and the Nail", and "Like it Was Yesterday."
When they concluded their set, you knew that a crowd who had spent most of the show dancing in the aisles and whooping and hollerin', weren't gonna let them go with out at least one more song, and Blackberry Smoke obliged with two of their fan favorites "Other Side of the Light", and "Ain't Much Left of Me. "
