The Riverside Community Players have kicked off their fall season with a wickedly funny production of The Addams Family, directed by Vincent Washicko. Running October 31 through November 16, the show combines the macabre humor of Charles Addams’s original creations with musical numbers that find unexpected heart in the world’s strangest family.
Gabriel Figueredo anchors the show as Gomez Addams, delivering a performance brimming with wit and warmth. His chemistry with Jessica Arcuri’s Morticia radiates through every scene, capturing the offbeat romance that makes the Addams family oddly endearing.
Ashley Montgomery embodies Wednesday with precision and depth. Her transitions from gleeful mischief to the bewilderment of young love are smooth and believable, giving the story its emotional pulse.
Synnova Macleod steals scenes as Uncle Fester. Her comic timing is impeccable, but what truly stands out is the sincerity she brings to a character that could easily drift into caricature. Every entrance lands with both laughter and heart.
Among the Beinekes, Jonathan Haidl (Lucas) and Randy Ingram (Mal) shine in their Riverside Community Players debuts. Haidl brings a dynamic Broadway polish and infectious energy, while Ingram—making his RCP debut after forty-five years of acting across Southern California—infuses Mal with seasoned presence and warmth. Their pairing with Megan Sanders’s heartfelt Alice Beineke rounds out the show’s central family dynamic beautifully.
Supporting performances from Ryan Clem Barnes as the towering Lurch and Leslie Thompson as the delightfully eccentric Grandma add humor and heart. The role of Pugsley Addams is shared between Fiona Washicko and Rylee Cummins, who alternate performances throughout the run, each bringing a unique spark to the Addams’ mischief-loving youngest child.
The ensemble of ancestors, including Alexandra Razo, Alycia Olivar, Cindy Ingram, Blase Zeeb, Justin Speakman, Hannah Klein, Jordan Evans, Lillian Myers, Trent Paige, Randy Ingram, Freeland Gonzales, and Rylee Cummins, rounds out the cast with spirited choreography and comic flair.
In keeping with RCP’s long-standing commitment to accessibility, the company will host an ASL-interpreted performance on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. Audience members who require interpretation are encouraged to reserve seats in sections A or D for the best view of the interpreters.
Now in its 101st season, Riverside Community Players continues to demonstrate that community theatre can be both polished and personal, a space where audiences laugh, connect, and maybe hum along to a few eerily catchy tunes.
The Addams Family runs through November 16, 2025 at Riverside Community Players, 4026 14th Street, Riverside. Tickets and information are available at riversidecommunityplayers.com or by calling 951-686-4030.
