Presented by Riverside Community Players is the musical comedy “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Directed by Mia Mercado, opening on Friday June 21st through July 7th!
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy structured around a spelling bee competition taking place with each character playing a different part in it. Comedy bits and gags are sprinkled throughout the production, making for a very entertaining and fun viewing experience, with each cast member getting their own time to shine and take away the stage with the spotlight on their character.
The characters in the production are not just here to make you laugh. They have layers of depth and are given time to expand on their individual stories, some of which being very emotional, notably Gioia Cali as Olive who has a musical number detailing their entire past and relationship with their parents.
Every showing of this production by the Riverside Community Players will be unique in its own way as the performers improv their own jokes and lines depending on the audience members attending and the production has a very unique aspect where members of the audience can sign up beforehand to potentially have a guest role in the play, performing on stage alongside the rest of the cast!
