Dropkick Murphys headlined a three act show, featuring The Scratch and Pennywise as opening and supporting bands, on Feb 14 2024 at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Fans of all ages gathered to witness a night of unforgettable music and boundless energy.
Following stellar sets from opening act The Scratchers and then Pennywise, Boston-based punk group, Dropkick Murphys came out to a crowd pulsing with energy and excitement. Ken Casey, lead vocalist, was all over the stage, and then he was bounding through the photo pit to stand on the barrier fence to interact with an eager group of fans who couldn't get enough of his performance.
They opened up their set with "The Boys are Back" and proved they were with the intensity and sheer joy that radiated off the stage. As Casey ran around the stage he was smiling from ear to ear.
Kevin Rheault, bassist for the band, was jumping up and down while shredding the bass to the fast pitched Irish punk rock that they dealt out to the crowd, while Tim Brennan showed that the accordian is just as punk rock as the electric guitar!
Between songs, Casey talked to the crowd about how great it was to see kids, not just the ones brought by their parents, but teenagers in the crowd, soaking up the punk vibe and keeping the spirit of punk alive in their fandom.
The stage was decked out with candles and Matt Kelly banged on his Irish green drum kit, with a photo of English Author G.K. Chesterton on the front of the bass drum. and pounded the rhythm throughout the packed out arena.
Since 1996, Dropkick Murphys have been creating anthemic punk rock blended seamlessly with Celtic style that can't help but rouse a crowd, and the crowd got in on the fun chanting out the choruses and singing along all the while Casey held out the mic to keep encouraging them along.
