Starting Friday, April 18th, The Riverside Community Players opened their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, directed by Michael Shane Eastman. This classic romantic comedy is brought to life with talented cast members, amazing costuming, live instrumentals, and an enticing plotline that has you hooked as the characters play off each other through their love and distaste for each other.

Set within an ancient Athenian forest, the production follows a group of young lovers who find themselves entangled in a mess of romantic confusion. With love triangles, unrequited feelings, and magical fairies, chaos ensues as spells are cast and identities are confused. Director Michael Shane Eastman brings a playful and thoughtful approach to the stage and as a result it is a wonderful viewing perfect for all theatre goers and Shakespeare fans alike.

A major standout in the cast was Kevin Trevino as Oberon and Paris A. Langle as Puck/Robin Goodfellow. Their dynamic stage presence and chemistry shined every time they entered the stage. From fairy shenanigans to direct interaction with the audience, both actors brought immense charisma and joy to their roles.

Adding even more to the atmosphere of the show was the presence of live music performed throughout the production, which enhanced the emotional beats and added to the immersive world-building. Before the show began, a delightful pre-show performance by Leyna Camacho, Molly Warner, and Kobe Darby was performed with live vocals from the three, setting up the tone for the night of magic that was coming up.

With unique staging, engaging live music, and passionate performances from a talented cast, the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Riverside Community Players shows how much heart and effort everybody put into creating something memorable. It's a clear reflection of the cast and crew's dedication to the craft.
